Our Team

We have assembled a focused team of experts to quickly deliver top-notch solutions. The myObservatory platform was launched out of our parent company, WebH2O LLC.

Dr. Yoram Rubin provides overall and technical leadership. Dr. Rubin is a professor of environmental engineering at UC Berkeley, in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He founded WebH2O and myObservatory to develop and provide data and analytical tools to environmental scientists and practitioners. His areas of expertise include groundwater hydrology, contaminant transport, subsurface characterization of geological media, spatial analysis and geostatistics, model calibration and environmental risk assessment. He is the recipient of the 2004 Hydrologic Sciences Award of the Hydrology Section of the American Geophysical Union. In 2006, he was appointed a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. In 2012 he was appointed as Helmholtz International Fellow by the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers.

Peter Traverse provides overall leadership of the myObservatory concept and market development. A regenerative agriculture practitioner, Peter manages a large diversified farm for Innisfree Village located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. For the past 10 years he has been exploring the emerging markets of ecosystem services and to this end, has developed a successful stream mitigation bank that sells stream credits in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. He also operates a long-term farm observatory at the Innisfree Village farm to research and develop new market opportunities in land regeneration strategies. He has 30 years of experience in business management, financial planning, community economic development and the use of the internet to enable community action.

Chris Michaelis a GIS, web, desktop, and mobile developer. He is a huge fan of philosophies like Getting Things Done and Getting Real, and applying these strategies with effective tools and frameworks like Bootstrap and jQuery. Over the last 15 years he has managed diverse teams of individuals creating everything from open source Windows software to scientifically-oriented large mainframe software to consumer web sites, using a staggering array of technologies. Chris holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Utah State University, and a master's degree in Geographic Information Science from Idaho State University.

Ari Rubin advises on strategic marketing and the development and introduction of new products into the marketplace. He loves technology and enjoys helping companies succeed at key growth junctures. Over five years as an investment banker, most recently as a vice president at JPMorgan, Ari has advised technology clients such as LinkedIn and TiVo on transformative transactions ranging from Initial Public Offerings to Mergers & Acquisitions. An electrical engineer by training, Ari began his career within Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems division where he developed hardware for Satellite and other Defense programs. Ari holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from U.C. Berkeley and a Masters in business administration from UCLA's Anderson School of Management.

Kate Condon is an education and community outreach consultant with myObservatory. She has worked with students spanning grades K-14 in various STEM subjects and contexts. Kate brings her years of experience teaching and conducting educational research to the concepts of citizen science and community based projects. In her work for myObservatory she collaborates with educators, non-profit organizations, municipal organizations and scientists in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Kate holds a bachelors degree in Environmental Science from the University of Vermont and a masters degree in Education from Castleton University.
